This delightful trek takes us through the remote wilderness and great variety of landscapes, unspoiled part of Nepal that has remained largely untraced and unexplored, of-course initially providing superb views of the Dhaulagiri ranges before crossing North of Dhaulagiri and into the deep Bheri river gorge. The Jangla Bhanjyang Pass [4,500m.] marks the entrance to Dolpo, and from the top we get our first views of the Dolpo peaks and down to the deep gorge of the Bheri River. Descent from the Pass takes us into the southern end of Dolpo and to the dry, arid landscape created by the Himalayan rain shadow. We now begin our exploration of Dolpo, first ascending the Tarap Valley, to the village of Tarap Gaon, surrounded by chortens and gompas. The hardy people of Dolpo are amongst the world's highest dwellers with the upper villages at around 4,300 metres. Climbing out of the Tarap valley following ancient trade routes, we head North and West to cross two high Passes, the Numa La [5,148m.] and the Baga La [5,182m.] taking us onto the Dolpo plateau and through classic Dolpo scenery to the Phoksumdo Khola and the Shey-Phoksumdo National Park. The return way we make the descent down the Phoksumdo khola to Dunai and our last night’s camp at Juphal, a small village sitting on a broad terrace high above the Bheri River. Our adventurous journey is finally completed the following morning with a flight out of Juphal to Kathmandu.
