This is a relatively short but extremely interesting trek and a good one for family with children.. The very sacred Gosainkunda Lake is situated in the Langtang National Park region of the Annapurnas. There are some 100 lakes in the area and they are the destination for thousands of Hindu Pilgrims during the month of August. The lake is also sacred to the Buddhist people. The trek commences with a steep ascent but levels out for a relaxing trek through old forests. If the day is clear, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the valley below and of the magnificent waterfalls cascading down the mountain ranges across the valley. There is ample opportunity to see the vast array of flora and if you are quiet and observant, you may even come across some of the varied wildlife inhabiting the forest. The trail takes you through some of the best native forest in Nepal. Through the canopy, you will get tantalizing glimpses of Langtang Lirung Peak (7246m).
